Images of Azeroth: 50,000 Words (12/50)

Ahh, the square image format. It is such an incredibly unique way to present an image in this day and age and I love it dearly. When I was working as a professional photographer I used a Hasselblad 500C which took 2 1/4" square negatives. It took me a long time to truly understand how to compose a powerful image using the square format, but once I figured it out I completely embraced it and tried to produce as many images as I could using the natural dimensions of the 'Blad. Now that I am using a digital camera that has the standard 35mm dimensions (4x6, roughly) it's harder to visualize things as a square, but I still try to use it any chance an image demands it. Same principles go for WoW screenshots.

Damn, I really miss that camera.

This image is along the same lines as yesterdays: An exploration of movement and an attempt to create an abstract photograph. I am particularly fond of this one; the colours and the motion really work. This is another example of an image that resisted every attempt that I tried to improve it. The only processing I did with this image is to choose the square format for it.

Angelya over at Revive and Rejuvenate has come up with another Challenge that I, as a Photographer and self-styled Visual Artist, am very excited about. It's IntPiPoMo, or International Picture Posting Month. As a picture is worth 1,000 words, the goal for this challenge is to post 50 pictures during the month of November. I will be posting 25 Images of Azeroth and 25 photographs or art projects that I have been working on personally (and no baby photos, sorry ladies). As well, I will be posting commentary and context with each image.

Please note that all World of Warcraft screenshots are copyright Blizzard Entertainment. The photographs are copyright Brad Stover and should not be reused without permission..
