Images of Azeroth: 50,000 Words (21/50)

A Unique Perspective on Dalaran
Sometimes all it takes to create a unique image of a mundane subject is to simply change your perspective. Any WoW player who played during the Wrath of the Lich King expansion is so familiar with the city of Dalaran as to be bored with it, despite it's obvious beauty. This image was taken high above to see the gorgeous city in it's entirety and is a panorama of seven different images.

Pines #4
This image is very exciting. I was poking through some images and started playing around with one - doing the Photoshop equivalent of a quick pencil sketch - and an hour later this was the result. It's probably my most abstract image to date, and my wife and I have had a couple of very interesting conversations as to how to interpret it. The wonderful thing about abstract images is that the mind will build a framework so as to be able to understand what's it's seeing, and it will be different for every person. What do you see?

Bonus Dwarfling pic!

Angelya over at Revive and Rejuvenate has come up with another Challenge that I, as a Photographer and self-styled Visual Artist, am very excited about. It's IntPiPoMo, or International Picture Posting Month. As a picture is worth 1,000 words, the goal for this challenge is to post 50 pictures during the month of November. I will be posting 25 Images of Azeroth and 25 photographs or art projects that I have been working on personally (and no baby photos, sorry ladies). As well, I will be posting commentary and context with each image.

Please note that all World of Warcraft screenshots are copyright Blizzard Entertainment. The photographs are copyright Brad Stover and should not be reused without permission..

  1. Very unique perspective on the floating city of Dalaran. I almost can envision a mage standing on a magic flying carpet mount looking down on the scene. Another gnome mage on the carpet with her getting ready to jump off and test her engineering parachute.

The abstract picture is a very modern meets nature piece. Open to various interpretations, like you mentioned in your last #IntPiPoMo post, any artist can explain their art. What I see is beauty in a secluded forest with the center element being a golden bonfire roaring upwards as the cool green grass blankets the floor.

The Dwarfling is a cutie and she is blessed to have a daddy that can wonderfully record all her stages of life in photography. Bet the Mrs. Fannon and you already reflect on the memories.

    Great job keep on posting.

  3. Dwarfling! *ahem* Anyway!

I love the Dalaran picture. I love flying above the city, and you completely captured why anyone could spend hours just hovering above it. :) Bravo!

  5. @Draccus: Thanks for that interpretation. Everyone I've talked to about it so far has seen something different, so I'll take that as a win. :)

@Everyone: Thanks for the comments, I'm glad you like the images.
