The Dwarfling Arrives

After a long and epic battle, the Dwarfling finally arrived yesterday.  Thirty hours of induced labour, forcepts and just about every other medical intervention short of a Caesarean Section and there she was.  And it was completely mind-blowing.

I really didn't understand how instant the love and attachment would be.  It's actually very cool.

This is Teagan.  She's absolutely adorable.

  2. AMG Soooo cute. Congratz on your new dwarfling. You noted on Twitter that dwarfling girls should be born with beards that fall off at puberty.

To make it easier on the dwarfling's parents, perhaps the beard should STAY until after puberty. Hehe.

So happy for you all! So sweet and beautiful!

  11. This is just the best thing ever. I mean, having my kids was mind blowing as well. I'm thinking that for most dads, it turns out to be this way.
I'm sure there are dads out there that it isn't; but then again they are the offspring of Arthus.

  16. Thank you everyone for your well wishes and congratulations. Teagan is home as of Wednesday evening, happy and healthy. She is unfortunately nocturnal at this point and she only seems to be awake and active at night, like some kind of tiny, uber-cute vampire.

I am completely fascinated by her. She makes very interesting pops, gurgles, squawks and squeaks. In fact, I am learning new onomatopoeias every time she makes a sound.

I am astonished at how she responds to my voice. It's very apparent that she recognizes me, which means that the months that I spent telling her to get out of Mrs. Fannon's belly were well worth it.

Anyway, I don't want to turn this into a baby blog, but I thought you might enjoy the update. I sincerely appreciate all of the support that the community has shown me during my wait for the dwarfling. This Dwarf's heart has a warm spot for all of you.

  17. My solution to the super-cute vamp was to make sure she didn't sleep too much during the day and make sure she got enough food so she wasn't hungry at night. I ruthlessly woke her up every 3 hours during the day and stuffed a boob in her mouth. Apparently it worked.

  20. SO SO SO late, but dear god, the Dwarfling is adorable. I hope she's keeping slightly less vampiric hours. I wish y'all lived near me, I would LOVE to take her pictures. *wistful sigh* But then, I say that about all my friends' babies.
